Learning Through Play

Checkout the aftermath of some serious cutting!  Our sensory table is filled with wrapping paper to cut up and rip apart - a fun way to strengthen those fine motor muscles!  We also practiced stringing beads onto pipe cleaners to make holiday necklaces.

Three Little Pigs

After reading the story, The Three Little Pigs, we created the three houses from the story that the pigs built. We made a house with straw, a house with sticks and one with bricks.

We also took turns playing the role of the "Big Bad Wolf" and "Little Pigs" while retelling the story!

Playing our Instruments

During our instrument songs, we take turns playing different instruments.  When we hear the word "Stop", we are learning that our instrument should no longer make any noise and to pass it to the friend next to us.  When we share, we get a turn to try them all!

Balancing

Trying to keep our balance is tricky while walking across the balance beam - but it sure is fun and we won't give up!

Trick or Treat

"H" is for Halloween fun at Preschool!  We had fun dressing up in costumes, making Halloween pictures and Trick-or-Treating upstairs in the Middle School office and 8th grade classrooms. 

Pumpkin Exploration

Exploring the inside of a pumpkin at school.  When we opened it up, we found seeds and "wet, slimy stuff" (pulp).  Some of the students liked how the inside felt and some did not - but everyone gave it a try!  The seeds were fun to pull out and count.  

Shoe Stew

We made Halloween Shoe Stew!  We are practicing matching and sorting.  Everyone put their shoes into a big pot and we mixed them up.  After our stew was mixed, we dumped it out and had to find our shoe matches.  Once the matches were found, we practiced putting them on independently and on the correct feet!  Afterwards, some cute witches and wizards tested out the cauldron!

Pumpkin Farm

Our visit to the pumpkin farm was so much fun - even though the weather wasn't cooperating for us.  It was cold and very windy, but we were able to ride on a BIG school bus, which may have been the best part of our trip!

We went on a bumpy hayride around the pumpkin patch, had a chance to ride on a pony, milk a cow and hold kittens that were only a couple of weeks old.  All of the children and parents had the opportunity to pick out their very own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home!

Color Mixing Fun

After reading the book, Mouse Paint, we did our own color mixing just like the mice did! Instead of using paint brushes, we used our fingers to make some beautiful colors.  We started out with red, blue and yellow paint...which we turned into orange, purple, green and brown!

Welcome to the Bloom 'N Grow Preschool Blog!

Our first week went well - we were very busy and had a lot of fun.  We read the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See, talked about the color BLUE, danced with ribbon streamers, went on a Bear Hunt, used daubers in our journals and decorated letters using stickers and markers!

We are also learning and working on our classroom rules and expectations.

Dream Big

It is really hard to believe that our Preschool year has come to an end!  What a fantastic year...We laughed, played and learned so many new things during our morning adventures.  We will have a million great memories from our great group this year.

Your children should be very proud of all of their accomplishments this year.  It was amazing to see how much everyone has grown during our time together!

It was a pleasure to have had all of the little learners at Bloom ‘N Grow and hope every family has an enjoyable Summer!!

Library Visit

Students enjoyed walking over to visit the library at Canterbury Elementary School.  We had a chance to listen to a few stories about Spring and learned a new song with Mrs. Thomas, the librarian.

Spring Flowers

Spring is in bloom at Bloom 'N Grow!!  So much hard work was put into cutting out these flower petals and decorating them.  We are working on keeping our thumb up and fingers down when using a scissors.  The petals were painted by putting white paint on a cork and stamping it onto the paper - Fun!!

Happy Spring

Our BNG learners have been very busy since we started to talk about the season of Spring!  Today, we water colored eggs, read stories about Spring, danced with eggs and had an egg hunt!  So much fun :)

Drawing Fun

Working on strengthening our hand and finger muscles by coloring with markers! This activity is not only fun, it is preparing our students for academic success.  Love the stories and amount of creativity that goes into these simple drawings!

Ocean Painting

We worked as a team to create this beautiful ocean using paint, glue, shaving cream and our fingers!!  It is now ready for some fish!

Kids in Motion

What a fun day!!  Our field trip to Kids in Motion was filled with running, jumping, climbing, exploring, creative play and sensory fun!  So many smiles and giggles throughout the morning!

Shoe Mix-Up

Today we did something silly...We took our shoes off and put them into a big pile!  One of our friends mixed up the pile and then we looked to find the matches to our shoes.  After both shoes were found, we worked to put them on all by ourselves and on the correct feet!

Gross Motor Workout!

Through games, music and movement activities we are working on strengthening our large muscles, concentration, listening skills and social interaction.  The "Beanie Bag Dance" and the "Freeze" are two of our favorites!!
